Just Busy, That's All

We've been doing lots of extra running today. Buying some things for work, looking for things we didn't buy, and pricing computers.

Yeah, that. Our laptop is roughly four years old, and still works fine ... until you try to reboot the thing. On Wednesday evening it took 12 cold reboots and three hours before it finally launched sucessfully.

Today's mandatory Windoze update and obligatory multiple re-starts had me thinking we'd never see the home screen again.

So we headed out to various box stores looking at prices on all-in-one desktop units. The best combo of features vs. price was at Costco. But only by a little.

Ah well, maybe January.

It's time to change OS... Either Mac or Linux... Win 10 is NOT your friend.

I bought my all-in-one through Amazon. A referb. Works pretty good, what four years in...?
An HP touchscreen, with wireless keyboard and mouse.
Windows 7.
Been afraid to upgrade to 10, based on all the reports of spyware infusion.

Happy shopping!

NFO, I'm beginning to regret upgrading from 7 to 10, so you're probably right.

Guffaw, I'm still running Win7 at work, for several reasons, and it still works just fine. So you're probably right, too. :)

Dude.

You need a DELL, preferably a LATITUDE or OPTIPLEX.

all the goodness, 1/3 the price.
I've bought 7 PCs thru the site, and with the occasional surface scratch, they've all done yeoman service.

mea culpa.

Steve, it's okay. My work PC is a Dell Optiplex, and it's been working quite well for the last 4 or 5 years. Has an i5 dual-core processor too, which is faster than my laptop.

Rev. Paul,

Been there before, it's no fun having to go computer shopping. I hope you've backup your stuff just in case the computer does a major crash. Hurry up January!!!! LOL :-)

Sandy, I love shopping for computers. Transferring all the old data to the new machine is occasionally a pain, though, no matter how well the back-up went on the old one.

I regret the loss of Windows 7, although 10 doesn't make me swear as much as 8. Couldn't wait to ditch 8.

PH, I configured 7 until it looked like Vista. :) And only recently did I accept the free upgrade to 10. Followed Borepatch's recommendations on how to turn off the pryware (if I may coin a phrase), too. It's not so bad, unless these glitches that are starting to surface are a feature; then I might have to take Old NFO's advice, above.
