Can You See 'Em?

This isn't a great photo of the northern lights, this morning, and the iPhone's basic camera isn't the best suited for such a thing. I tried to lighten it a bit, but this is still only a pale version of what is dancing in the skies above Anchorage right now.

I wish all y'all could be here to see it with me.

UPDATE: Here's a MUCH better shot of the same display, taken with a better camera and a time-delay exposure, on the hillside above town (and away from electric lights) by my friend Carl Johnson (from his Facebook page):

Purty, no?

Seen them here down south in Minnesota....;) Legend here is it Paul Bunyan and Babe the blue ox rough housing in the Arctic, and the sun is bouncing off the ice crystals they kicked up.

Rob, seems there nothing Paul Bunyan didn't do, or cause. :)

Very pretty, indeed,

I saw them a few times in Illinois, during some periods of intense solar activity.

They generally don't get down that far South, and all the news outlets made a big deal out of it.

They make a big deal out of it here too, Jim. Not always on the evening news, though. But we do appreciate how beautiful they are, and how special. I'm glad you've had a chance to see 'em.
