Finally, a Quiet Day

Our plans for the day after Thanksgiving were originally to spend the day in jammies, drinking egg nog around the fireplace.

Seriously. Both daughters had to work, so it was just going to be my lovely wife and me.

That was the plan.

Then we were contacted by friends who wanted to come see the new house. Since we've been here for a bit over six months, and hadn't had anyone over for a formal showing, it seemed to be time.

Sidebar: "No one over? What - are you anti-social?" No, it's just that it takes a long time to re-combine two households (our daughters moved back in with us), and set up housekeeping in a new place.

Then Samsung contacted us about our washing machine. Seems it was one of the 'splody ones, and they needed to perform an upgrade to keep that from happening.

And oh, yes, the repairman had to be here while the guests were arriving.

But he arrived early, after calling ahead to ensure it was okay, and only took 20 minutes to effect the repairs.

The guests also arrived early, but we were ready, and all was well. They were duly impressed, and we had a great afternoon of conversation.

It was a good day, and now today will be our quiet day. More or less. :)

So best laid plans, eh? :-)

Pretty much. But today is better. I went out to fill my gas tank, and will go out this afternoon to help Older Daughter select some wipers for her pickup. Beyond that, no plans.

My long range plans are like the next 12 hrs, drives the wife crazy. I know things are coming up, but the family seems to ask me about them every day. My wife is famous for her daily what time are we leaving to go to youngest from school?? 2:45 like it is every day. God give me strength to.............

Rob, I'd say I feel your pain, but - in our case - my wife does better remembering appointments/schedules than do I. If I don't write them on the calendar, they're forgotten. Our younger daughter, bless her heart, will periodically mention her work schedule for the next week. And then, Heaven help her, she expects us to remember it. Bwaahahahaha! I can barely remember my own, and it doesn't change.

Your guests missed the excitement of the washing machine catch on fire? Probably a good thing. :)

Terry, the washing machine wouldn't have caught fire. The defect is that, on the bedding cycle, they explode into component parts & throw shrapnel.
That's a whole different kind of horrible, agonizing death. :)

Ahhhh... the "Rapid Self Disassembly" syndrome.

Pretty quiet here today, too. The dog had soooo many friends to play with on Thanksgiving day and Friday that she's been pretty quiet.

Hasn't even wanted to play tug-o-war with her rope today!

I understand about kids moving back home. Extra help is appreciated.

Glad all went well.

A blessed Sunday to you all.

Quiet is the best! My roomie always likes TV, music, SOMETHING going in the background.
Can't get her to sit still, either...

Of course, having a forest around your home helps! :-)

Enjoy...

Jim, you've described the Samsung problem quite nicely. It affected some three million machines, and several owners have filed class action lawsuits. I can't complain; they made it easy to schedule the "fix", and it only took 20 minutes.

Linda, the help - when it's available (wink, wink) - is nice. Thank you.

Guffaw, you & I have much in common, it seems. I prefer quiet, these days, with a good book. My other half must have music or TV on, and never ever sits down.
I'll just look out at the trees and mountainside, and .. well, you know.
