I don't miss the 1-2 weeks of 10-20 below in upstate NY we always got every winter. Now that I'm here in western MI it has been 30-40 above zero. Minus 74?? Just BURRRR...got nothing else. I'd be staying inside till spring!
PH, we're warmer than much of the state, so -22 (or this morning's -27) is not too bad.
TB, it probably does. I'm sure you hope to never find out. :)
Suz, if we stayed indoors until warm weather, we'd be inside for 5 - 6 months annually.
Cute, Ed. I wondered if anyone would comment on that. Heh.
NFO, I think Nenana was down to -58 last night. And I've seen North Pole at -70. Thule's in the running, though.
Sandy, 3 of our 4 trucks have block heaters. The 4th lives in the garage when it gets cold like this. Most folks here have block heaters AND remote starts.
I heard it had been minus FIFTY and lower in parts of the state.
Good to hear it's a bit warmer where you are.
The coldest I've ever been was around -40 in Montana at a job site I was working at. My flashlight went out in my hand (we had to work at night), and when I mentioned that I had just put new batteries in it, one of the locals I was working with told me that the batteries had frozen because I was keeping it in an outer pocket of my parka!
Jim, we learn to keep battery-powered devices next to our bodies, even though it's often inconvenient. When taking pictures of the Iditarod, experienced hands put a hand-warmer under their camera on the tripod, to keep it functional.

Holy freakin cow...
I kind of wonder if the one in my car even goes that low...

Really! That's great! 107,000 miles!
That is something to celebrate.
Coldest I saw was -52 in Eielson in March, THEN when where it was REALLY cold... Thule! :-)
Rev. Paul,
Mighty cold!!! Do you plug in all your vehicles up there so they start in the morning?
