Snowy Morning, Slightly Warmer, and a New President

It's 9° above this morning, and the weatherman thinks we'll stay mostly above zero for the next week. I have mixed emotions about that. On the one hand, equipment and vehicles are much less likely to fail, but on the other ... well, let's just say that I take a perverse pleasure in seeing severe weather.

The really cold air is a challenge, and as long as one is properly dressed (and therefore protected) in it, it's enjoyable. The heavier the snowstorm, the more I like it. Now that I have a decent snowblower, even the clean-up isn't so bad. Back in the Midwest, I used to be thrilled by thunderstorms. I know, I know, I'm weird. So be it.

We also received a couple inches of snow overnight, and AccuHunch guesses we'll get another 5" to 8" today. In other words, it's January in Alaska.

It's encouraging to me to see our new President at another prayer service, this morning. Like him or not, it's a sign of humility to seek God's direction at every turn. And it's an indication that he knows the job is too big, and too important, to be left to man's ingenuity alone. That's a good thing.

I'm also amused to see that Mr. Al "I made a fortune from global warming-mongering" Gore's new film premiered during a cold snap and snowstorm. Have you noticed how often his events are greeted by a sudden change winter storm? Maybe there's a lesson there.

And speaking of weather putting the lie to the globular-warmering scam, I saw that the Obama's flight to Palm Springs was diverted due to weather, too.

Yes, I'm still grinning.

Okay, that's my mini-rant for the morning. Thanks for stopping by, friends; have a wonderful and blessed day.

I fully understand your love of severe weather; many of my friends who remain in Alaska greet the harshest bits with "Woo! Mother Nature, showing her Alaskan side! Driving Californicators and Portlandians and Seattlites back south!"

Wing, we can only hope - 'tis our fondest wish.

I always enjoyed watching, hearing, and feeling big thunderstorms come in when I lived back in Illinois.

The wind picked up and shifted, the air cooled off, and you could smell the rain coming.

One thing I noticed about PRESIDENT Trump (feels good to write that!) is that you could see him say "Thank you" to every person who held a door open for him.

Even the lovely Mrs. Trump said it, too.

And I really liked the way Vice-President Pence said "So Help Me God" when he was sworn in.

There's a fresh wind blowing through our beloved country. Hopefully it will sweep some of the garbage away.

Jim, it's a refreshing - and long overdue - change. Yes, the new President & his family have class, and I pray that fresh wind blows all the detritus out.

Rev. Paul,

From what I understand Obama's flight had to circle around the airport for 45 minutes waiting for the flooding and storms to leave. Since they didn't, his flight was diverted to another destination. I'm thinking that made for a nice going away gift??

Sandy, you're probably right. :)
