Back Among the Living

After three days of feeling lousy, and one day at about 50% lousy, I'm more-or-less myself today.

Well, myself plus another dose or two of the cold and flu meds which seemed to have the greatest effect on the symptoms.

So ... has anything happened out there whilst I was away?

Just kidding.

Yesterday was too warm (for us), hovering near 40 degrees all day. But the ground is frozen, the snow is deep, and the net effect was that snow piles shrank some, but are a long way from gone. The highway is clear, side roads are clearing, and residential streets are still a mess. Since they hadn't been plowed well to begin with, most are down to a lane and a half. Makes those blind corners a bit more exciting, don'tcha know.

But I digress.

Mostly, today, I'm encouraged by President Trump's pick for the Supreme Court. Judge Gosuch is an outstanding jurist, and a strict constructionist when it comes to Constitutional issues. I like everything I've read about him, so far.

I'm also enjoying the sights and sounds of liberal heads exploding on the two coasts. It's fun to watch. :)

I've avoided looking for too long at the local paper's website, because the headlines they choose are all too predictable. It's a McClatchy rag, so you already know what they publish, and how they phrase the stories.

In the words of President Lyndon B. Johnson (not someone I often quote or even consider):
If one morning I walked on top of the water across the Potomac River, the headline that afternoon would read: 'President Can't Swim.'
Of course, that was back in a time when reporting was more even-handed. The furor which attended President Nixon's peccadilloes a decade later destroyed that era forever. Thanks, Dick.

But I digress. Again.

The point I originally intended to make is long-since gone from my thought processes, this morning. I'm sure there was one.

Or maybe not.

But I'm feeling better, and it's Hump Day. All y'all have a good day out there, and thanks for stopping by.

Glad you're feeling better, and no, the news hasn't changed...

So glad to hear you are feeling better.
You had a chinook then?

Yes, it is annoyingly crazy down here.
Yay for hump days! A blessed February to us all. ^_^

NFO, I'm happy, but the news is ... predictably depressing.

Linda, as a matter of fact, we did have Chinook winds with that particular front. But Hump Day rocks. :^D

I agree 100%.
That Judge Gosuch is an outstanding choice.
Also joining the Drain the swamp team today are:
Rex Tellerson was just confirmed as Secretary Of State.
Sebastian Gorka PHD, Joins the Trump Administration.

As for the ADN (Always Democratic News)
It seems that I will not be allowed to comment on the Liberal articles anymore.
Every time I click on a fake news article. It lets me read part of the article, and then another screen covers it and says:

"Thanks for reading Alaska Dispatch News

Looks like they are charging $9.99 a month.
I wonder If I claim to be a screaming liberal snowflake. Would they give me a discount?even though it still would not be worth it!

Griz, I mentioned here about 10 days ago when the ADN announced the impending pay-to-read plan. It's never been worth it, but now I'll be forced to use the TV station sites, none of which seem terribly useful.

It's getting more & more difficult to get unfiltered news from around the state, unless I go to the News-Miner. Which isn't a bad idea, now that I think about it.

Rev. Paul,

Good to hear you're starting to feel better. Take it slow my friend, you don't want a 2nd round of that stuff. Plenty of sickness going around this time of year. I laugh to myself daily since the President Trump took office. It's like a 3 ring circus watching the democrats.

YEA!! Glad you are feeling better! Like Sandy said...don't overdo too quickly.

And, no, you didn't miss much of anything important...just more dems pouting and whining.

I agree on Judge Gorsuch...we shall see how the process goes now.

Sandy, I'm going very slowly. For whatever reason, I'm still short of breath, so that helps keep me from overdoing things. And I understand what you say about the daily laughter: the Dims' confusion & disarray is quite a source of humor. :)

Suz, thank you. At least I can do a passable imitation of a human, now. And the Repubs are doing a good job of repaying the Dims' arrogance of the last decade. We'll see.

Good to hear you're getting over the bug.

Hannity said today that Gorsuch was "right out of central casting"!

Rev. Paul said...

Thanks, Jim. Since Hannity is a good guy, I'm going to assume his description of Judge Gorsuch is a compliment. :)

Thank you, my friend. It sure beats the alternative!

So much ick going around. Weren't flu shots supposed to make everything hunky dorey?

I read the Daily Mail from GB if I read a newspaper at all.

Rev. Paul said...

PH, the flu shots only protect against one, or perhaps a few, strains of whatever's out there. There are dozens of strains, and I didn't even bother getting a shot this year. Besides, what I had was a bad cold, but not a flu.

Finding a reliable source for news is problematic. I do check the headlines on Drudge, for what it's worth.
