... but BATFE has joined the investigation into the apartment building fire, in Anchorage.
The Anchorage Fire Department is investigating a large structure fire that claimed at least two lives early Wednesday. ... AFD spokeswoman Jodie Hettrick said the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has joined the investigation into the fire. Hettrick said based on reports from bystanders, there is a possibility the fire was intentionally set. ATF is helping AFD secure the scene for this investigation. At a meeting with some of the victims Wednesday night, AFD battalion chief Mike Davidson told them they would not be able to check on their apartments for at least a few days, as the building was considered a crime scene.

That sounds bad.
It may be. There was an earlier report that the fire may have started in a car, in the lot. I'm sure we'll hear more.
When you posted about it, and talked about how it spread so quickly, my first thought was arson. I am not surprised to read this; but sorry to read that at least two people died.
I wonder what will be decided?
Linda, I probably should have been more specified with my expression of wonder. If it were a suspected case of arson, AFD would investigate, as they always do. But to bring in the Feds implies they've already found something more than simple arson.
Oh. Okay. My bad. Thank you for the clarification.
