This is the ceremonial start, used for fund-raising and to keep awareness high. On Monday, the official launch (the "re-start") will be in Fairbanks, for the 980-mile route to Nome.

It's my pleasure. It's a big deal here, where mushing is the official State sport.
At least there is snow... :-)
We have LOTS of snow this year; it's a nice change of pace after the last three winters without.
