God's Word for Tuesday, 7/11/17

I prayed to God, ‘Dear God, my Master, you created earth and sky by your great power—by merely stretching out your arm! There is nothing you can’t do. You’re loyal in your steadfast love to thousands upon thousands—but you also make children live with the fallout from their parents’ sins. Great and powerful God, named God-of-the-Angel-Armies, determined in purpose and relentless in following through, you see everything that men and women do and respond appropriately to the way they live, to the things they do.

Jeremiah 32:17 MSG

A curious prayer. But a true statement certainly.

Thank you, Reverend. I am glad that God has led you to share passages with us again.

Jeremiah is, in my opinion, an undervalued book. It is one of the few before and after books (combined with lamentations) that we have. It is not a question of prophecy to be fulfilled in hundreds of year; instead, it is prophecy that is fulfilled almost right then - the tail end, when the cup of God's wrath is finally flowing over.

Me too, Linda.

TB, the story of God's dealing with Israel, and their continuing inability to live by the rules for long, is instructive to us all. The new covenant, establish in Jesus' blood, is SO much better. I don't want to be around if & when the Lord visits his strictest warnings upon the USA, either.

Amen to that, Reverend. What we have seen so far in America is nothing compared to what might be to come.
