2We took a different route to get to Hawaii this year. We've always taken the direct flight from Anchorage to Honolulu, which is only 5 1/2 hours. But the airline keeps moving it later in the day.
The first time we flew here, years ago, arrival time was 6 pm. Not early in the day, but still had the whole evening ahead of us. But after a few years, they started playing with the time, and now it doesn't land until 8pm.
There's nothing like spending the first day of vacation waiting all day to go to the airport, and not arriving at the hotel until nearly bedtime.
So we flew out at 0230 to Seattle. After a 3 hour layover, Another 6.5 hrs to Honolulu, arriving at 1330 (that's 1:30 pm for you non-military types).
A MUCH better arrival time, as we reached the hotel at 1440, and had time to grab something cold while waiting for our room.
And now, with a good night's sleep uner our belts, we're enjoying ourselves immensely. No agenda, and no plan except to rest & enjoy.

Glad you are there safely.
Man, 0230 is a pretty early roll call.
We never got to sleep at all. Had to leave for the airport at 2330, drop off the truck at the car park facility, and then on to the airport and the security line. By the the time we got to the hotel on Waikiki, we'd been up for 40 hours.
GROAN......BTDT and hated it!
I haven't done that in a very long time (stay up for days). Was always TDY when I did, though. :-)
Glad to hear you all got there safely, Reverend. Have fun!
Jim, we've already decided that we won't do this again. The earlier arrival isn't worth the day and a half of jet lag from lack of sleep. I hadn't done it in 40 years, and it's NOT worth it!
Linda, it's definitely not a "good" memory. Thanks. :)
Enjoy! Have a Mai Tai for me at the Barefoot!
NFO - done!
You at the Hale Koa? If so, enjoy! I will be there with the family in June.

J.D., we're next door to the Hale Koa, at the Hilton.
Hope your vacation turns out well...
Meanwhile back in Alaska...

MM, we get something like that nearly every year. People are just ... not smart, sometimes. They've seen too many Disney movies and WAY too few live animals. Oh - and thanks. :)
