Clint Johnson with the National Transportation Safety Board says the float-equipped Piper PA-18 took off from Lake Hood, when it lost partial engine power. The pilot tried to make an emergency landing at the dirt strip at Lake Hood airport, but fell short, landing on marshy, grass-covered ground nearby.
An officer with Airport Police & Fire says two people were on board and one suffered a cut, but that it didn't require hospitalization. Johnson, with the NTSB said that person, the pilot, eventually was taken to the hospital, but the injury is considered minor.
The passenger in the back suffered "virtually no injuries" Johnson said.

And since any landing you can (pretty much) walk away from is a "good" landing, he did good!
Yup. They should thank God, because it could have been worse.

Wow. Seeing that, it is hard to believe they just walked away with a cut.
