Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:14,16 KJV“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven."

I do love these verses.
One... I don't know how to say it.
These are the verses that the liberals use to say we must have open borders and accept everyone and anyone to our country. And to provide them with more than we provide some of our own citizens.
I know when people steal from us, we should let them.
Just sometimes I find things very confusing.
And then I ask God for forgiveness.
Thank you for the post, Reverend. God bless.
Linda, this verse is in the discussion between Jesus and His disciples wherein He expounded on how we are to live our lives, and our purpose here on Earth as ambassadors of God. In no way does He imply that we should abandon our cities, our homes, to any marauder who stumbles past.
I would invite you to read all of Matthew 5, in the New King James if you have it, and see what you think when you've digested the whole discussion.
Thank you, Reverend. I will do so.
I also found a facebook post by a Mr. Darrel Bernard Harrison that helped me to clarify this.
Thank you, again. Have a blessed day.
