God's Word for Thursday, 10/4/18
Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.
TB, I'm pretty sure that from a Christian perspective, we're not supposed to assume anything about the future. Rather, we're to have 100% of our trust in the Lord and His guidance. He knows what's coming - of course - and we must let Him tell us what to do each do. So in direct response to your question, I suspect that most periods in history have been fraught with anxiety about the near future.

I hesitate to GUESS about tomorrow.
God word for us yesterday was, " my children enjoy the warm weather" 78 was so nice. Then the front came through...it was 31 this am.
Ed, I'm with you. I pretty much take it one day at a time, these days.
Rob, those wild temperature swings in the Midwest are a very large part of why we enjoy the steadier temps in Alaska so much.
It very much seems like a "One Day At A Time" period of history. I wonder if other periods have been like this as well.
