Because the "news" media won't bother to mention it, the earthquakes in Alaska continue.
We're getting 3.8 or stronger magnitude shakes every day or two, including a 5.0 yesterday, several yesterday afternoon, and several more this morning. Most of these include 10 to 30 seconds of vibration or rumbling, before and/or after the sharper jolt of the main quake.
We had a 3.8 this morning at 10, some 23 minutes ago as I type this. To say these frequent quakes are disconcerting is an understatement.

Hope your home isn't too badly affected.
WSF - My best guesstimate of the cost to repair/replace & repaint all the cracked drywall is close to $10K. But the gummint inspectors haven't been here yet, and may well see something I've missed.
Sorry to hear about the home damage. Can you live with it until it's repaired? I've never been through an earthquake and don't want to.
And with the government shutdown, it will probably be longer. :-(

Mike, our official status at this point is "damaged but livable", and we're still in the house. Regarding earthquakes, the really strong ones are unnerving, and I wish the experience had been postponed indefinitely. :)
Linda, the inspectors to which I refer work for the State of Alaska, or perhaps the Muni of Anchorage (if the State needs them). No federal workers are involved, that I'm aware of.
