A STRANGE PROPHECY FROM THE ARAMAIC - There is a lesser known Bible translation that has one phrase being fulfilled right now.
It was translated by George Lamsa in 1933 from the Syriac Peshitta, the Bible used by the Eastern Assyrian Church, from the Aramaic. In Luke when Christ is giving the signs of the time of the end, the verses run parallel with the KJV (which was translated from the Masoretic text). The Lamsa translation has a phrase in Aramaic where Jesus warned, "And the winters shall be severe." I pointed this out years ago when the Global Warming crowd was indicating the planet was getting hotter, and I said, "It will get colder in winter, not hotter, if this is a correct Aramaic translation."
This morning, the wind chill in Chicago is -75 degrees, one of the coldest on record! We are seeing freezing weather throughout the Midwest, to the point that police officers jackets are freezing and in a few second frostbite can occur. The power grid and gas lines are being stretched. It is actually dangerous to go outside in parts of the country.
Now scientists are saying instead of "warming," we may be entering a sudden "ice age," as the polar caps are shifting and the magma underneath the earth did a global shifting a few weeks ago, which is why earthquakes and volcanoes are awakening in the "Ring of Fire."

We are overdue for an ice age, for what I have seen/read before.
So yes. As I have tried to impress on people, puny humans are NOT in control.
However, this also reminds me that I have often wondered how they decided what would make up the Bible we read? How did they decide what was not important? I mean, if it was originally written by the Disciples, or whomever was originally entrusted with the writing, wouldn't it all have been important?
Who knows what else we don't know? :-)
Linda, this isn't a new teaching, but rather a phrase in the original writing which is still there for any to see, who will. We don't know for certain why those selected by King James (for example) decided to overlook it, but possibly because they didn't find it in other translations. The KJV translation is kind of a "majority rules" type of work.
According to the Jewish historian Josephus, the thirty-nine books of the Old Testament were brought together during the life of Ezra (Neh. 8:1). The Old Testament canon was well established by the time of Jesus. Evangelical Christians have followed the example of Jesus and recognize the canonicity of the Old Testament.
The early church used four criteria to determine the canonicity of a New Testament book:
1. Each book was written by an apostle or one closely associated with an apostle.
2. The contents of these books were revelatory in nature.
3. These books were universally recognized by the church in their teaching and preaching ministry.
4. These books were considered inspired because they bore the marks of inspiration. In other words, the miracles performed by each writer was part of the Jewish oral tradition, to confirm the writers' connection to God.
When the twenty-seven books of the New Testament were gathered into the canon, the Scriptures were considered complete.
read about the maunder minimum which is supposed to be entering an extreme phase now.
it is written that sowing and harvest will continue to the end but we are also told of the great famines which will come when treasure is found beside the roads with the bodies of the owners who died seeking food and water in famine in the last days
deborah, I've read that, too. Thanks.
Ok, so, yes, it is cold, but I remember plenty of cold when I was living in Up-State NY. We always had 1-2 weeks of -20 every January.
The only reason the weather guessers are not calling this polar vortex a blizzard is because the wind hasn't gotten much above 15-25 miles per hour. The definition of a blizzard includes winds at or greater than 35 mph for 3+ hours. Otherwise, the cold, the visibility, and snow pieces are there. And, if ya don't like the weather, wait a day or so, as it is supposed to be 40 by Monday. (It was -6 this morning here at the house, and we have gotten about 2 1/2-3 feet of snow in the past 2 weeks. Before that, it was bare ground.
I am not sure that the magma sloshing around in the earth could be a good thing. And the entire idea of the magnetic poles reversing doesn't sound good either. But I don't think there is much I can do to stop it, so I wont worry about it. Some things I just trust to God to take care of and those would be included. Sometimes faith and hope are all we have. Most days they work just fine.
Winter is coming. And so is Jesus.
Thank you for this in-depth explanation, Reverend.
We've been in an inter-glacial age for a long time, moving towards the next glacial age, so these "hiccups" as time goes on are just an indicator of the cycle. A hiccup I don't like at all - I was rooting for palmettos growing in West Virginia but doubt that I'll see that.
It's good to be a liberal, though. It's hot - global warming. It's cold - global warming. They get a wart on their butt - global warming. So easy.
What I've found interesting is the way what has been found to be true by science is often found in the Bible. It's clear, for instance, that one of the authors of Genesis realized that life began in the sea. And the geologic record has shown that the Mediterranean area has undergone cataclysmic flooding - the earth as the globe we know it to be now was not completely covered by water but the earth as people knew it then, THEIR world, was.
Suz, I'm with you on what you said. And it's always ALL been in God's hands, anyway, so why worry? :)
Unknown, nice GOT reference :) and yes, He is!
Linda, you're very welcome.
PH, well stated.
I very much remember the cold snap we had for almost three months across the mid west in the early 80's.
This polar "vortex" is just a re-branding of "weather".
Interesting note Reverend. For what it is worth, I wonder if one of the reasons it was dropped was simply the translators thought it must be a mistake - after all, there are NEVER severe winters in the Holy Land, right?
I have done a bit of research into the Grand Solar Minimum. I suppose we will have to just wait and see if it is true.
Ed, I remember when all of this was just called "Winter" too.
I seem to remember reading that the the elders in prechristian judism periodically rephraised some of the scriptures to make the meanings more understandable to the current generation. Both sides of the current argument of warming vs cooling seem to interpert facts to their own point. One bunch says the Arctic ice is at a 10,000 year high and the other says ice is dissappearing. I can't read the sat photos so I can't tell. Seems the same with temperature claims. I agree we will get what God gives us and I pray to have the wisdom to help my grand and great grand kids deal if it is bad.
Ed, the weather gets warm, it gets cold ... it's cyclical, and as you know, no Congressional pronouncements will make it any different. Or any more significant, for that matter. They're just chasing dollars from donors, pure and simple. It's all about the money, and the power they wish to exercise over us. But I know you know that, too.
TB, I suspect it was dropped because it was only in the one original language. But who knows? All we know for sure is that, as prophesied in 12:4, in the end times knowledge will increase. And we're learning all sorts of things, all the time.
Mr. Brewi, welcome. Your observations are spot on, and we'll just take it as it comes. It's not like we have any alternatives.
Its never a good thing when your power company tells you to lower your heat to 63. We always have it at 63. We just add more clothes. Thank god our temps are getting back to around ZERO. Feels like summer
It's surprisingly responsible of them to tell you to lower your thermostat. A black-out would be a whole lot worse. Re: your pending warm-up, I understand. When that happens after a really cold spell, it always feels unexpectedly warm when temps are still in the range where more southerly folks would normally curl up in a ball.
