Iditarod Day 2: Mushers Out of Rainy Pass

10:15 a.m.

Two mushers have checked into, and out of, the Rainy Pass checkpoint, as half a dozen other mushers are on the way there.

Nicolas Petit is in the lead, with Pete Kaiser quickly following behind out of Rainy Pass. Musher Ryan Redington has reached Rainy Pass, but according to the Iditarod trail tracker, has not yet left the checkpoint.

Meanwhile, several mushers are on the way there from Finger Lake, including Matt Hall, Jessie Holmes, Wade Marrs, and Aliy Zirkle.

The next checkpoint, Rohn, is roughly 30 miles away. From there, a longer stretch of roughly 80 miles between Rohn and Nikolai will follow.

Thanks for posting these Reverend (from the lover of many fringe events).

I’m not sure I’d call a state-wide celebration a fringe event, but you’re welcome. 😎

I also appreciate you posting about the Iditarod. Unfortunately, while it is a state-wide event in Alaska, it doesn't get a mention down here in the rest of the states. And I enjoy reading about it.

I also like your current header pic as well as the moose that was feeding in the tree that you had up just previously. :)

You’re welcome, Suz. I know the race doesn’t get any attention, elsewhere, but my readers here have always enjoyed it. And I’m glad you like the pictures. 😊
