When I got home from work around 1500 hrs today, it was 66°, almost no breeze, and bright sunny blue skies. By 1700, it had clouded up. After a brief resurgence of sunshine, the skies grew dark again ... the winds picked up ... and thunder (!) began to rumble.
AccuHunch says we're due for t-storms with hail and possible heavy rain intervals this evening. For the record, "awesome" weather moments have been in short supply this season. At least, so far.
But for a brief, shining interlude, we sat on the deck and luxuriated in an Alaskan summer. It was awesome.

We got about 1/4" in 45 minutes this afternoon. LOTS of thunder and lightning, mostly cloud-to-cloud, but I saw a few big strikes a couple of miles away.
And then we had a beautiful DOUBLE rainbow, both perfect 180* arcs. Stunning, and I called my wife out to see it.
She'd never seen one that big and bold, and I haven't seen one like that since I moved away from the midwest in 1982.
Much like a meme going around FB. "I love summer in Wyoming. It is the nicest day of the year".
drjim, that sounds like a wonderful experience. I love t-storms, but until the last 30 days, hadn't seen any in years. I hope you got photos of the rainbows.
WSF, I hear you. Looking back, we'll be able to say we loved the summer of 2019: it was on a Wednesday afternoon. :)
