Reverend, I think another point - which the author does not mention - is that many churches have either discussing it at all or emphasizing it beyond "Someday, somewhere, Christ will come back. The important thing is...." The church is complacent indeed, but the church has also found more "important" things to do...
The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the pastors and teachers in the modern church. Well does James 3:1 say, "Not many of you should become teachers, my brothers, since you know that we will be judged more severely."
That verse, as much as any other, keeps me posting on Biblical matters here. I know what to do, and woe unto me if I should fail to do it.
