God's Word for Monday, 9/23/19

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
Romans 5:3-4 KJV

There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!
Romans 5:3-4 MSG

I think I'm doing it wrong.
I don't glory in tribulations.
Much.

I was just listening to Ravi Zacharias talking to James Dobson, and Ravi was quoting Malcolm Muggeridge about growing in trials and not ease.
I realized that a good translation of today's verse might be:
"I shine in the contest!"
Job came out an example of faithfulness to all times.
He won the race.

Amen!

That’s not a bad way to consider it, Ed. My personal take on it is to remember that “many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord God delivers him out of them all.” I glory in the knowledge that the Lord is about to come through in a major way!

There are always verses that challenge me, Reverend. These are some of them.

These verses are intended to challenge us all, my friend. Ultimately, we need to learn how to let God be in charge, and celebrate His care and protection of us.

I've got plenty of tribulations. Working on the patience... sigh

It’s a challenge for all, sir. Hang in there.
