My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
1 John 2:1 KJV
I write this, dear children, to guide you out of sin. But if anyone does sin, we have a Priest-Friend in the presence of the Father: Jesus Christ, righteous Jesus. When he served as a sacrifice for our sins, he solved the sin problem for good—not only ours, but the whole world’s.
1 John 2:1 MSG

15For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who was tempted in every way that we are, yet was without sin. 16Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
He picks us up when we fall. He truly IS our advocate!
Amen!
Amen again!
In the NKJV, the introduction to 1 John includes this sentence that I like: "As we walk in the light, we will regularly confess our sins, allowing the blood of Christ to continually cleanse us."
That's neat, complete, and succinct. :)
