My wife and both daughters have the day off, as is proper and right. Me? Not so much.
The store wants me to work from 9:15 to 5:00. I don't mind the customer service role very much, but management is another story. The latest manager (in a long line of managers) is an overgrown kid who was apparently told that he's God's gift to retail.
Again, not so much.
But that will be so much water under the bridge, soon enough. 'Nuff said.

In the meantime, all y'all enjoy your day, and remember that the battle belongs to the Lord.
Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. (1 Peter 5:6-7)
And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phil. 4:7)

Padre we all could write stories about today's non working youth. So could my kids, they have worked with some real whiners I mean winners
Youngest daughter worked at Bullseye, and yellow tag, youngest son worked at yellow tag and a restaurant. Oldest son spent many years as a server. He has stories from the house of mouse, to the lobster, stories about coworkers and customers
Pretty much sums up retail, Reverend.
And thank you, Lord.
Ah, those freshly minted "managers". How they will someday enjoy working for someone just like themselves...
Rob, you have no idea how hard I had to work, to keep my description of the guy from being nasty. Or maybe you do.
That’s unfortunately true, Linda. I’m glad you liked the verses. 😊
I’m not sure such people ever approach the level of personal honesty which would allow them to see the parallel. But you’re right: it IS going to happen.
Hang in there Rev.
Some days are tougher than others. But then, you know that.
I think we have all known managers like that. I wasn't liked (and wasn't concerned) by my subordinates. On the other hand, it was never personal and I wasn't arrogant.
I hear you, sir.
Thank you for the wonderful 1 Peter quote, Reverend.
It gives me great comfort and peace to read that, and I've copied it to my files.
