How? you ask. In Christ. God put the wrong on him who never did anything wrong, so we could be put right with God.

A gift I find hard to understand.
But I thank Him and praise God.
Linda, the only way Jesus could take our death and punishment for sin, was for God the Father to put all of OUR sin on Him. He who was without sin of His own, because OUR sin. It's a thing theologians refer to as "substitutionary atonement". Jesus was substituted for us, so that we could receive the gift of eternal life. Without His sacrifice by taking our place, we'd never be allowed to see Heaven.
Somebody had to pay.
Thank God it wasn't me.
