Trump Declares Churches Are Essential

“If they don’t do it, I will override the governors. In America, we need more prayer, not less,” he warned.

Thank you, Mr. President!

I am so ashamed of West Virginia. Yes, yes, I get that our bishops can shut our CATHOLIC churches (we won't go there because the order came from Baltimore, which is a tad different from WV), but thousands of others are being denied their constitutional rights by a governor that you don't want to ask my opinion of (it's not nice) but, even worse, by legislators that seemed to go "Oh well."

drjim - absolutely.

PH - I hear you, and it saddens (and angers) me, too. Far too many of the elected officials, appointed "experts" and the great unwashed are far too eager to hand over their rights. I still drivers every day wearing masks while traveling alone in their cars.

I am glad to see the President do this, though really, sad to say, states trump feds. Not sure what President Trump says will make a difference.

However, I agree that churches are essential. It has made me very sad to see what has happened in the country.

Glad that the President has put this back in the hands of local congregations to decide what and how to do this. In some cases they may reopen, in other cases (like my parents' church, which is mostly high risk elderly or our current church) they may continue to do things remotely. The important thing is that they decide, not the government.

Linda, the President can't make one state change a policy, but he can make all the states do it. At least, that's the way I understand it. And yes, it's sad that he had to tell us about the importance of church. Used to be, people knew that already.

Thanks, threecollie. Younger Daughter snapped that with her new iThingy. It's from Point Woronzoff (map handy?) showing the Port of Anchorage in the center, with downtown Anchorage to the right. Chugach Mountains form the backdrop.

TB, agreed. Acts 5:29 remains in full force, if only Christians remember it.
