oookaaay...so my question is...is it just the vinegar and baking soda, and the onion is just a fancy bowl, or does the onion contribute something also to that chemical equation?? Guess I am going to have to find an onion and a light bulb and see what happens.

That's an LED lightbulb, and uses much less power than an incandescent bulb would. The onion, the vinegar, the baking powder, and the different metals the base are made from turns into a battery. Since many LED bulbs will light with less than the amount of voltage provided by an AC socket, the small amount of voltage produced is enough to light the bulb.

This I'm going to have to try!
