More properly, it was in the air yesterday, and today's it largely on the ground.
At one point in the afternoon, the leaves were falling so thickly that I couldn't see the street from the house. I tried to get a short video, but - of course - it was tapering off by then. (Note: if you click on the video to enlarge it, you can see the leaves falling much more clearly.)
This photo, taken just now, is after I spent over an hour moving leaves from the 260' driveway this morning.
As you can see, the birch trees are largely bare. The cottonwoods retain their leaves, for now.

NFO - we've had fresh snow on the mountaintops around us at least three times in the last 8 or 9 days. It's not too off, now.
Leaves are starting to drop here, too. Going down to the 30's tonight, so I expect that to accelerate the process a bit.
Backyard is getting pretty full of leaves/sticks/twigs, so we'll probably do some raking up this week.

Looks beautiful. We haven't gotten so far as having the leaves fall--yet. Right now they are still on the trees in all their magnificent colors. I'd guess we're hitting the peak fall foliage here in north-central Pennsylvania.
drjim, your seasons & ours seem to set in at about the same times. Of course, you're at a lot higher elevation; we're only about 800 ft above sea level.

joated, nice to hear from you. AccuHunch guesses we'll get more wind today/tonight, so more leaves will be down. The trick, here, is to get them collected before the snow gets here. At this rate, it'll be early, too.
