It's about the time of year for our sometimes-brief and sometimes-lingering autumn season to shift gears.
We've been watching the snowline work its way down the mountains toward our particular elevation, over the last two weeks.
Today, it made it.
It's not heavy snow ... not yet. But it will be here soon. Only once in the last 20 years has permanent snow failed to be on the ground by Halloween.

We got clipped by the September snow we had, but it didn't stick around. I don't think we get permanent snow by Halloween, but Thanksgiving has had snow for our first two.
Just about ready to head out and get my Ariens DeLuxe 24" blower. Probably this week. I'd like at least a few weeks to get familiar with before I have to use it. It's going to be nice to have one that "steers" vs the solid-axle piece of junk I got rid of!
I seem to recall it used to be common to have snow in Alaska before Halloween. ๐
The chairs look quite cold, but the scene is pretty otherwise. ๐
You’re gonna like it, jim. Mine is very much appreciated.
In fairness, Linda, you were considerably farther north. ๐
I guess we were, indeed. Stay warm! :)
Brrr... :-)
It’s not even cold ... yet. ๐
