But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
1 Peter 1:15-16 KJVSo roll up your sleeves, put your mind in gear, be totally ready to receive the gift that’s coming when Jesus arrives. Don’t lazily slip back into those old grooves of evil, doing just what you feel like doing. You didn’t know any better then; you do now. As obedient children, let yourselves be pulled into a way of life shaped by God’s life, a life energetic and blazing with holiness. God said, “I am holy; you be holy.”

I don't see the justification for all the extra words, unless the translator is paid by the character.
The Message calls itself an “intelligent commentary”. Sometimes they seem to get carried away with their exposition.
Gotta work harder on that one... sigh
Reverend, one of my biggest complaints with the modern church is almost precisely no-one preaches, practices, or believes this. Yet somehow the "Church" is growing by leaps and bounds, I hear.
How can the church grow if, without holiness, it cannot see God?
NFO, most of us struggle with that, and must simply trust in God’s grace and forgiveness.
TB, many large churches are, unfortunately, populated by those who think it’s the thing to do. It’s easy enough to stay under the radar in a huge sanctuary. And therefore, they’re never called upon to make any commitment.
I rely on God's grace and forgiveness every day. And His promise.
Just need to keep thanking Him for everything and remember that His time is not my time.
Thanks for sharing these words, Reverend.
Thank you, Linda.
