Iditarod 2021

Mitch Seavey on the trail near Elim, far in the Iditarod lead in the 48th [2020 - Ed.] race. (Tracy Sabo / KTUU)

This year's Iditarod kicked off on Saturday from Deshka Landing, outside of Willow.  The race, modified for the Covid-19 scare, will follow the southern trail to the village of Iditarod, then follow a newly-broken route in the shape of a button hook. The racers will finish where they began.

Already? Where did the year go?

Looking forward to this now-annual and much appreciated distraction. Thanks Reverend.

The Iditarod starts annually on the first Saturday in March. I'll post updates as time permits. And I'm glad to hear that you like it. :)

Weird that they changed the route like that. Thanks for the updates. I count on you every year to keep us informed about the race.

The changed route is due to COVID, we’re told. I’ll do my best to keep you updated.
