It Cometh

I haven't mentioned the weather lately, as we've all been distracted by a number of other topics.

But of a truth, we all need a break from the unrelenting barrage of bad news and dire predictions. (Most of them are false, by the way. The predictions, that is.)

So while the heat rages across much of the Lower 48, and rain and flooding across the rest, here's something different.

Our lows have been in the upper 30s, and daily highs in the upper 40s to low 50s, for several weeks. Leaves began falling about a month ago. Accu-Hunch Weatherguess predicts widespread frost tonight.

So here's something with which you might clear your eyes, in answer to the question, "Reverend Paul, what does mid-September look like your part of Alaska?"  I took these on the way home from the store, about 30 minutes ago. It's currently 43°, if that helps.

I do miss Alaska. I wish we had not left.
But I guess God wanted us here for a reason.

Enjoy your cooler weather, Reverend. Be safe, stay warm and God bless.

It's been getting down to the low 40's here at night the last couple of weeks, but anywhere from 70's to high 80's during the day. Some of the trees have started changing colors, and a a few leaves are falling. We always get one snow and a freeze before Halloween, and Fall is *definitely* in the air!

The leaves are about half down, and there’s frost this morning. There was snow down to about the 4,000 foot line earlier this week. Winter’s in a hurry, here.

Snow before Halloween, as I recall.

There’s almost always snow before Halloween, but in this part of the state we say that the first permanent snow is usually on the ground by Halloween. That’s only failed twice in 18 years.

Are you complaining or bragging?

Rev. Paul said...

Neither, but quite possibly gloating a bit. We like winter, so it's a good thing. :)

Reverend, I am intensely jealous. We are still engaged on living on the surface of the sun.

On the bright side, The Ranch has slipped into Autumn and I will have at least two more visits to enjoy it.

Sorry to hear that, TB. I just saw that we have have snow in our forecast for Tuesday. It’s too warm for it to stick, but it’s a start.

I'd gladly give you some of ours.

Ed, I suspect we’ll have plenty of our own, but thanks. 🙂
