The mandatory rests and layovers initially confused me. There is a lot more strategy than meets the eye.
TB, I was initially confused about them, as well. The rests are mandatory, and they must take place at a checkpoint, but which ones, in which order, and when? The timing of the rests and layover are up to the individual mushers.
