This Blog Going Away?

Google sent me an e-mail announcing that this "workspace" has been cancelled, since it's been "suspended for a long period".

Okay, whatever. Apparently Google needs the $10/year I paid them for a couple of years, several years ago. I had no idea their corporate finances were that close to collapse.

So if the blog disappears, you'll know why.

Interesting Rev - I have never "paid" for blogspot.com; is this a thing?

threecollie, I have mixed emotions about it, but it's been a constant companion since 2008.

TB, if you want the URL of your blog to go from blogname.blogspot.com to merely blogname.com, you can pay Blogger a fee for the privilege ... if a privilege it is. I used the "privilege" for a couple of years, until they went from a simple annual renewal to a much more complicated procedure. I could never get it work as simply as they claimed, so the word "blogspot" re-entered the name of the blog.

That...is odd. I never got that.

I got one of those too. I think the "workspace" thing is for business type blogs (maybe vaguely connected to the now deceased Google+). Google set up one for me when I published my first book and switched to my own domain name (originally purchased through Google). Since then, it's has gone through a series of cancellations as they've pared back services, of which now they seem to be ending entirely. But it never affected my blogspot blog.

NFO - it probably had to do with me getting a different credit card, But the procedure for accessing the payment page changed, and I've never been able to get to where they said to go, to continue the payment.

Leigh, that makes sense. But I never had a business, and haven't tried to sell anything. Oh, well, c'est la vie.

Now you understand the issues I have had with my blog. It keeps my blog closed, or I can't post at all

It could be spam, too. I'd be careful about going to a link to pay money that way.

If you had a link in the past that no longer works, well, I'd just be suspicious.

You all be safe and God bless.
