The Anti-gun Left Declares War on Your Gun Rights

President Obama took to the airwaves on Sunday night and told the nation we need more gun control.

Hillary Clinton -- the one who will most likely be the Democrat nominee for president in 2016 -- recently called for an all-out war on guns, as well.  

And then, for the first time since 1920, the New York Times published an editorial on the front page of their newspaper.  

This is important because the editorial page of the Times reflects the thinking of the anti-gun Democrat Left. 

And what is the theme of the Times' most important message in nearly a hundred years? 

In two words:  Gun Confiscation.


Left “drops the gloves,” calls for gun confiscation

The New York Times said this weekend that:

It is past time to stop talking about halting the spread of firearms, and instead to reduce their number drastically — eliminating some large categories of weapons and ammunition.It is not necessary to debate the peculiar wording of the Second Amendment. No right is unlimited and immune from reasonable regulation.

The Times continues that there would be no grandfather clause for the 300,000,000-plus firearms we currently own:  

[I]t would require Americans who own these kinds of weapons to give them up for the good of their fellow citizens. 

So there you have it.  You need to give up your guns -- for the good of the country.

Ironically, the editors at The Washington Post are furious with the Times for letting the “cat out of the bag.” They called the Times’ editorial “predictably polarizing.”

But as one insightful journalist noted, the Post editors are only upset because the Times’ piece confirms “every gun owner’s worst fear -- namely, that all the talk about gun safety and reducing gun violence is just a sham, and the real agenda of the gun control movement is total confiscation.”


Gun confiscation has always been the goal of the anti-gun Left

Everyone has known that a Hillary presidency would result in greater restrictions on our Second Amendment rights.

But now her mouthpiece at the Times has explicitly revealed what we knew already was the case -- the Left wants to CONFISCATE YOUR GUNS. 
 
Anti-gun radicals usually try not to say this publicly, because they know that talk of gun confiscation loses elections. But when caught on “candid camera,” they tell you they want to confiscate guns.  

Take Maryland’s Deputy Attorney General -- a liberal Democrat -- who was recently caught on hidden camera stating “we should ban guns altogether, period.”

Or remember when New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) said, in the wake of the Sandy Hook shooting, that among the different gun control proposals that were being bandied about, “[gun] confiscation could be an option.”

Or when several Democrat state senators were caught on an open microphone in New Jersey saying, “We needed a bill that was going to confiscate, confiscate, confiscate.”

This is their agenda.

In its editorial, the Times lambasted pro-gun, Republican politicians who “abet would-be killers by creating gun markets for them, and voters allow those politicians to keep their jobs.”

That’s what the Left thinks of you.  They think that your rights and freedoms … that your guns which have NEVER harmed anyone -- are the problem because you are aiding and abetting killers. 

These are the stakes we face in the 2016 elections.  

If Clinton wins, we can expect her to push the same Times’ agenda, which will include the elimination of “large categories of weapons and ammunition” -- probably by executive fiat.  

And we can expect the Obama-packed courts to roll over and ignore the “peculiar wording of the Second Amendment.”

You have eleven months before the November, 2016, elections.  And everything we believe in is at stake.

GOA Says Obama Planning Gun Control Via Executive Order

I’m sure you’ve heard the news.

There’s been another shooting -- this one in California -- and, already, the President is using the tragedy to go after your guns.

Obama said yesterday that we need more “common sense gun safety laws” and “stronger background checks.”

Of course, Obama ignores the fact that California has THE STRICTEST laws in the country -- banning most so-called “assault weapons” and “large capacity” magazines, requiring Universal Background Checks, imposing a 10-day waiting period, and much more.

He also used the opportunity to say that terrorists who are on the “no fly list” can easily exploit our gun laws by just walking into a gun store and buying a gun.

And herein lies the subterfuge that Obama is currently using to impose a backdoor gun ban.

The big ruse: Get Americans to ignore Obama’s incompetence

Breitbart News reported recently that the White House is using gun control as a ruse to “distract” Americans away from the President’s “faltering Islamic State strategy.”

Says AWR Hawkins of Breitbart:  The President wants to expand firearm “background checks to include individuals listed in the no-fly list.”

The President repeated this call for Universal Background Checks yesterday -- a proposal that would necessarily require a BAN on the private sale of firearms.

As stated above, California has already tried this failed approach.  And nationally, background checks are a huge failure, given that roughly 95% of initial denials under the NICS system are “false positives.”

But Obama’s solution -- that of using the government’s “secret blacklist” to keep people from purchasing guns -- is especially heinous, as it will prevent even more law-abiding gun owners from purchasing firearms.

The Terror Watch list is riddled with errors

For the record: There are a whopping number of names on the various government lists -- 47,000 on the “No-Fly” list, with another 700,000 on the government’s “terror watch” list.

One frequent criticism is that no one knows how the names got on these lists, or how people can get off.

We do know that people like the late Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA) and Representative Don Young (R-AK) have been temporarily blocked from getting on planes because their names were on a “watch” list -- or their names were confused with people on that list.

We also know that an 8-year old Cub Scout from New Jersey is on the no-fly list.
And like that Cub Scout, there are hundreds of thousands of people -- at least 38% of those on the “secret blacklist” -- who have been erroneously flagged, according to the Office of the Inspector General.

There are no standards for populating the “watch list.” The uber-liberal Huffington Post says one way to get on the list is to just be “unlucky.”

Bipartisan support for a “secret blacklist” gun ban?

It is imperative that you contact your congressmen -- regardless of whether they are a Republican or Democrat.

This secret gun ban has tremendous support among Democrats, but even among some Republicans as well.

Donald Trump, one of the Republican presidential hopefuls, has voiced support for using the government’s “terror watch” list to ban Americans from buying guns.

This is why your outpouring of opposition is so important.  You can prevent even more Republicans from jumping on board this bad idea.

On the other side of the aisle, Democrat Senators Dianne Feinstein (CA) and Chuck Schumer (NY) are pushing a similar idea in S. 551 -- legislation that could be dubbed as the “Let Terrorists Walk the Streets” act.  (H.R. 1076 is the companion bill in the House of Representatives.)

Under this proposal, if the Attorney General determines that an individual has been engaged in terrorism, the Democrat solution is to continue to let the terrorist walk the street, while simply adding his name to the NICS system to prevent him from acquiring guns -- as if a law were capable of doing that.

But here’s an idea for Feinstein and Schumer:  “If you identify a terrorist, then you SHOULD PROBABLY ARREST him, rather than using him as a pawn in your gun control agenda.”

Ominously, this bill specifically allows the Attorney General to conceal WHY that person was added into NICS, thus allowing an anti-gun Attorney General like Loretta Lynch to illegitimately add thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of Americans into the “no buy” list, without ever being called to account.

This just underscores how important it is for ALL gun owners to lobby their congressmen on this issue.

Tell your Representative and Senators to oppose every effort from the White House to cynically use Obama’s failure to curb terrorism as an excuse to impose a “secret blacklist” gun ban.

GOA Addresses the Chattanooga Massacre

Gun Owners of America has been working with several congressmen on Capitol Hill to introduce legislation to repeal the gun ban on military bases.

And we have good news!  Rep. Scott DesJarlais (R-TN) plans to introduce a bill early next week. 

And the office of Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-CA) -- a former Marine himself -- has told GOA that he will be introducing a bill to allow military recruiters to carry firearms.

On the Senate side, GOA is working with Senator Steve Daines (R-MT) on similar legislation.
We will provide you updates as things develop.

It is imperative that this legislation get introduced and tacked on to a must-pass bill, because the sad truth is that more lives will perish if Congress does not repeal the ban on service members carrying guns.
 
“Our servicemen are sitting ducks at every military base in the country,” said GOA Director of 
Communications Erich Pratt.  “How is it that a concealed carry holder shopping at Wal-Mart has more rights than our soldiers who are also trained with firearms?”

Obviously, military bases are not the only gun-free zones that must be repealed.  So GOA is working to repeal the Gun Free School Zones Act and other gun bans.

All of these efforts are just part of the gun control “fabric” that needs to be torn apart, one piece at a time, and tossed into the trashcan of history.

We recognize that the Second Amendment protects our God-given right to own and carry firearms for protection.  But if we don’t repeal these infringements of our Second Amendment rights, then good people will end up behind bars for merely possessing guns for self-defense.

Will UN-style gun control be rammed down our throats? Gun import bans ... Microstamping of firearms ... Ammunition bans ... The full implementation of the anti-gun UN Arms Trade Treaty ... Illegal amnesty which locks in millions of new, anti-gun voters. This anti-gun wish list could be part of the secret trade agreement that President Obama is getting ready to spring on the Congress. This trade pact is called "fast track," and what it means is that Obama can write any form of gun control he chooses into a trade agreement -- import bans, amnesty, etc.  And this agreement DOESN'T need two-thirds vote in the Senate, as a treaty would.  When completed, the agreement is merely subject to a majority vote in both Houses ... it can't be filibustered ... it can't be amended ... and the GOP can't refuse to consider it. Top Secret TPP means you won't know what's in the bill Reports have already surfaced that the TOP SECRET draft contains a whole chapter with a European Union-style provision allowing unlimited migration from Mexico into the United States. This would fulfill Obama's dream -- which he begun with Executive Amnesty -- to import millions of new anti-gun (liberal) voters into the country. Of course, we can't quote for you any of the language in the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement because the document is TOP SECRET.  Obama won't reveal it, even to most congressmen, until Congress has given it its imprimatur by allowing it to pass under fast track procedures. On Monday, Politico reported: If you want to hear the details of the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal the Obama administration is hoping to pass, you've got to be a member of Congress, and you've got to go to classified briefings and leave your staff and cellphone at the door. If you're a [congressional] member who wants to read the text, you've got to go to a room in the basement of the Capitol Visitor Center and be handed it one section at a time, watched over as you read, and forced to hand over any notes you make before leaving. And no matter what, you can't discuss the details of what you've read. Truly, even more than with ObamaCare, this is a case of "You have to pass it to find out what's in it." Some Republicans are being duped But that's not all:  The fast track authority being granted to Obama and his successor for the next six years applies to whatever type of trade negotiation Obama chooses to enter into.  So, if he can write the UN Arms Trade Treaty into a trade agreement, then it can't be filibustered or amended or prevented from consideration. Tragically, many conservative Republicans have listened to business lobbyists -- who are focused on the free trade issues without considering the impact on personal liberties -- and have endorsed fast track.  But one business leader recently took Republican lawmakers to the woodshed for this: By now Congressional Republicans should know better.  The Obama administration has stonewalled Congress on many issues, e.g., guns to Mexico and the IRS scandal, and this President has ignored the law and by-passed Congress on such matters as executive amnesty and the Bergdahl prisoner exchange.  [The] alleged economic benefits of TPP -- and they are minimal ... -- do not trump the Constitution, the law, and the proper use of fast track. It is significant that, in Sen. Orrin Hatch's 114-page bill specifying the goals of U.S. trade negotiations (S. 995), there is not a single word prohibiting Obama from using the agreements to implement gun control.  And yet, that gun control will be just as binding as if Congress enacted it in a statute. GOA: Help Stop ATF's Ammo Ban!

ATF Seeks to Suppress AR-15's by Banning Common AR-15 Ammo ACTION: Urge your Senators to "defund" the ban on AR-15 ammunition, and urge them to put a "hold" on the nomination of Attorney General Nominee Loretta Lynch until the ATF backs down from its unlawful gun ban. Obama/Holder Exact Revenge on Gun Owners In the winter of 2012-13, Barack Obama went to war against the AR-15.  Every liberal establishment ally in the country was mobilized to ban the rifle and destroy what they dismissively called "the gun manufacturers' lobby." In the end, fewer than 40 senators (in a Democrat-controlled Senate) voted to ban semi-automatics.  So what do you do when even a Democrat-controlled Senate will not support your lunatic agenda?  What do you do when your agenda runs contrary to the law and the Constitution? You just ignore your opposition and go on the offensive, which is exactly what the Obama Administration did within the past week. ATF Violates the Law in Proposing New Ammo Ban The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is proposing to illegally suppress the AR-15 by banning M855 ammunition for that rifle as "armor piercing ammunition" under a 1986 statute banning certain types of ammunition -- a statute which amended the Gun Control Act of 1968. GOA's Legislative Counsel fought this law as a staffer in the U.S. Senate, arguing that it was a "camel's nose under the tent."  Sadly, a "compromise" which was struck by some short-sighted pro-gunners in 1986, and the bill was allowed to pass.   Thus, the ammo ban applies to: (1) Ammunition constructed entirely of "tungsten alloys, steel, iron, brass, bronze, beryllium, copper, or depleted uranium" or,  (2) Certain "full jacketed projectile[s] larger than .22 caliber designed and intended for use in a handgun..."  [18 U.S.C. 921(a)(17)(B)]  Obviously, SS109 and M855 ammunition -- with a traditional lead core and a steel tip -- is neither.  Rather, this is an illegal attempt to ban or limit AR-15's by banning types of AR-15 ammunition.  Moreover, any particular ammunition can be, and has been, exempted if it has a sporting purpose. Well, according to surveys, the AR-15 is used for target shooting or hunting over 50% of the time -- thereby, making its ammunition easily fit within the "sporting purpose" test, no matter what the composition of the ammunition. Hunters Beware! The AR-15 is one of the most popular guns in America.  But even if you don't own one -- hence, you may be thinking you don't have a "dog in this fight" -- realize that this ban DOES AFFECT YOU.   If the ATF can get away with illegally banning a popular ammo round (because it can penetrate body armor), how long do you think it will be before it's banning other popular hunting rounds -- which, by the way, can also penetrate body armor! The ATF is accepting comments on this proposal until March 16.   GOA is working on submitting its own comments, and we certainly don't discourage others from submitting theirs as well. Most importantly, however, GOA will be working with Senators to "defund" or overturn this ammunition ban. ACTION: Urge your Senators to support the following measures: (1) Ask that the nomination of Attorney General Nominee Loretta Lynch (dubbed "Eric Holder in a skirt") be put on hold until the ATF backs down from its unlawful gun ban; and,  (2) Urge Senators to support an amendment to the DHS appropriations bill which would forbid the ATF from going forward with its lawless proposal.

GOA: Congress to Give "Fast Track" Authority to the President ... to Ban Guns?

Congress got back to work last week.  And within the next month, the congressional GOP leadership is expected to move a “bait and switch” scheme that could seriously impact the Second Amendment.
The scheme is called “fast track.”
 
In “fast track,” Congress passes a bill which delegates to Barack Obama the legislative authority to do anything he wants -- ABSOLUTELY ANYTHING -- so long as he includes it in a “trade agreement.”
 
In this case, the trade agreement is the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement (TPP or TPA) -- currently being negotiated with thirteen Pacific Rim nations.
 
The problem is that Congress would delegate this authority to Obama without knowing what was in the top secret agreement -- and possibly before it is even completely written.
 
Gun import bans?  Does anyone want to bet that Barack Obama would resist the temptation to sneak these into the TPA?  And, if he does, the agreement must be voted on “up-or-down,” with no amendments and no possibility of a Senate filibuster.  And every word of the agreement would have the force of law.
 
It would be one thing for a future pro-gun President to engage in these negotiations.  Under such circumstances, GOA would not consider gun owners to have a dog in this fight.
 
But this President has used his Executive “pen,” time and time again, to circumvent the Congress and the Constitution.  Giving him this “fast track” authority is extremely dangerous. And things will only get more difficult when every Establishment interest in Washington starts pushing Congress to immediately approve this “up-or-down” deal. 
 
We saw, with the anti-gun Cromnibus last month, how difficult it is to stop legislation under these circumstances.
 
So this is another one of those cases where Congress is being told to pass something “so we can find out what's in it.”
 
We do know that Obama's Hollywood friends will be the big beneficiaries of the TPA.  We also know that there will be a lot of knee-jerk opposition from liberals, who don't understand that Obama could stick a few feel-good sentences about the environment or collective bargaining -- and spin millions of pages of liberal regulations out of them.
 
So the bottom line is this:  A dozen Senate Republicans opposed to delegating unbridled legislative authority to Obama could squash this deal.  But it is important to act now.

ACTION: Contact your Senators and Representative.  Ask them to oppose giving unbridled “fast track” authority to Barack Obama.

And to that effort, "Daddy Warbucks" has pledged $50 million in his crazed effort to remodel this country's gun laws to resemble England's. Turning most gun owners into criminals Bloomberg's first attempt at buying a state is in Washington. If he is successful in the Evergreen State, simply owning a gun -- without making a tiny mistake which would land you in jail -- will be like dancing barefoot in a pit of scorpions. Bloomberg's proposal -- an initiative which will be voted on in the November election -- is 18 pages long.  So the only thing most Washingtonians will know about it is the lies Bloomberg is paying to spew over the airwaves. Bloomberg's minions have more than a dozen similar referendums planned around the country for 2015 and 2016. All of this means that educating and mobilizing the grassroots -- and the next generation -- becomes even more important. GOA: Stop Obama's Efforts to Create New Anti-gun Voters

Gun Owners of America Sen. Sessions Calls on Americans to Melt Down Senators' Phone Lines -- Oppose Obama's efforts to create 5 million new anti-gun voters Not a GOA member yet?  Make sure to join Gun Owners of America! What if Barack Obama could create 5,000,000 new anti-gun voters ... in a tyrannical act of unconstitutional usurpation ... all by the stroke of his pen? And what if Obama justified his tyranny by acknowledging, effectively, that he controlled the police and that there was nothing anyone could do about it?    Would that alarm you? Well, that is apparently what is about to happen, as Barack Obama moves to illegally legalize 5,000,000 people unlawfully in the United States. And don't be fooled into thinking the 5 million work permits are not a superhighway to the 5 million-plus new anti-gun voters that Obama craves. The Congressional Hispanic Caucus gave Obama a "wish list of executive actions and urged Obama to legalize all of the illegal immigrants that would have qualified under the Senate's amnesty bill."  A Pew poll from last year indicated that if illegal immigrants were eventually given citizenship, they would vote for liberal, anti-gun candidates by an 8-to-1 margin.   This is why Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL) is calling on all Americans to melt down the Senate phone lines and demand that they oppose the President's planned executive amnesty.  According to one media report: "Recent developments suggest the President's planned executive amnesty could be increasingly imminent and broad in scope," Sessions said, citing how Pelosi has called on the President to give the "broadest possible" executive amnesty to perhaps as many as ten million illegal aliens. (Breitbart.com, Aug. 12, 2014) We've seen this game before:  As recently as 1980's, California was represented by a conservative Republican:  S.I. Hayakawa. After President Reagan signed Simpson-Mazzoli, legalizing 3,000,000 illegal immigrants concentrated in California, the state couldn't destroy the Second Amendment fast enough.  Now, California has authorized $24,000,000 to send SWAT teams around the state to seize people's guns.   Incidentally, the fact that the chief sponsor of the 1986 Simpson-Mazzoli Amnesty -- and the President who signed the bill into law -- were both Republicans made no difference in swaying the newly legalized voters from supporting liberal, anti-gun candidates. We cannot afford to have California's de-gun-ization extended to the whole country.  And we can even less afford for that to happen by a tyrannical seizure of power which even liberals concede is illegal and unconstitutional. So the question is this:  With control of the Senate up for grabs, how many senators support Obama's tyrannical power-grab -- a power-grab that could set the Second Amendment on the course of total destruction? In early August, the House voted to end Obama's efforts to unilaterally extend amnesty to illegal aliens.  Now, says Sen. Sessions, it's time for the Senate to act. "The American people have the power to stop [this]," Sessions said.  "That begins with asking a simple question: where do your Senators stand?" ACTION:  Senator Harry Reid is blocking a vote on the House-passed anti-amnesty measure in the Senate.  So contact your Senators.  Ask them whether they support Obama's anti-gun immigration power-grab.  And, if not, ask them if they would support a move to force the issue onto the Senate floor. Boxer Moves to Take Guns From Virtually Anyone

And click here to take action on this alert. "What is wrong with the people here in this country?" asked anti-gun Senator Barbara Boxer on the floor of the Senate Monday. Boxer was questioning why even the anti-gun Senate had not heeded her call for more gun bans, and concluded that something was wrong with America. Well, here's an idea, Senator Boxer:  Nothing's wrong with America. But something is wrong with you.  And, in particular, something's wrong with your state of California, which registers guns, bans many semi-automatics, has a $24 million gun confiscation program to send SWAT teams to people's homes, and is rated by the anti-gun Brady Campaign as having the strictest gun control laws in the nation -- and yet was unable to prevent another massacre of students on May 23. It probably won't surprise you that Sen. Boxer doesn't blame this massacre on the fact that California left all of the victims as unarmed "sitting ducks."  Or that even the New York Times now realizes that its sensationalist coverage has created these copycat killings. Or that it's the CRIMINAL who is actually at fault! No.  Boxer instead concluded that this was another opportunity for her to exploit a tragedy for political gain.  And that's exactly what she has done. The text of Boxer's hilariously-named "Pause for Safety Act" was not available at press time.  But, by her own definition, it would allow a universe of people which could include virtually anyone (for instance, "co-workers," according to Boxer) to sue to take your guns away. After the lawsuit is commenced, you would have to take thousands of dollars (which, presumably, you have lying around the house) and hire a lawyer to resist that petition.  Of course, if you didn't have the money to hire a lawyer, your constitutional rights vanish in thin air. Gun Owners of America has had lots of experience with the far-less-expansive restraining order gun ban added to the "prohibited persons list" in 18 U.S.C. 922(d) and (g). Constantly -- and we mean constantly -- we receive e-mails from innocent law-abiding members who cannot afford the cost of resisting a petition to take their guns away.  Constantly, we see the impact of "he-said she-said" reciprocal gun-ban petitions which are the inevitable outcome of failed relationships which are increasingly common in America. So, yes, Senator Boxer:  We understand what you're up to.  If the Boxer bill were to become law, virtually anyone could lose their guns at any time because someone with "deep pockets" didn't like them. But the good news is that Boxer's proposal is so transparently anti-gun and so odious that we can nip it in the bud if we act now. Obama-Bloomberg Minions Renew National Effort to Take Away Your Guns

No one hates guns more than California. 

They came close to banning most semi-autos and do register all guns.  They have moved to regulate ammunition.  They have just established a $24 million program to send SWAT teams to people's homes to confiscate their guns.  They are using microstamping and pushing gun-insurance requirements as a mechanism for banning guns nationwide.

And yet, on Friday night, California's hatred of freedom did nothing but turn 19 people -- six dead and 13 wounded -- into sitting ducks, as a deranged killer went on a rampage in a quiet college town. 
We, along with all Americans, pray that God will give comfort to those who mourn for the family members they lost over the weekend. 

But what can we learn from this latest horrific tragedy? 

First, gun control made people less safe. California, which has the strictest gun laws in the nation, has a gun-homicide rate that is 70 times higher than Utah’s -- the state the Brady Campaign listed as having the least gun control in the nation.  So people are actually much safer in Utah, where guns are more easily available!

Second, the shooter (whose name we will not publicize) amply demonstrated one of his motives with his widely televised videotape and his 140-page manifesto:  he wanted to get his 15 weeks of fame on MSNBC and CNN, who immediately responded with the type of crazed coverage that can only encourage more copycat shootings. 

Third, we would note that this privileged kid had been prescribed drugs such as Risperidone -- and we would be willing to bet that he was one of 1-in-5 boys (and 11% of all kids, 4-17) who, because of federal law, had been shuttled onto Ritalin or Adderall. All of this tends to reinforce the apparent link between certain prescription drugs and mass murder.

What are the practical ramifications? 

Well, it didn't take any time at all for the Bloomberg vultures to descend upon the horrific tragedy to try to pick its bones for political gain. 

Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) and Rep. Peter King (R-NY) have already called for stricter gun controls in the wake of the California shooting.  CNN did its part to push for gun control yesterday, with a headline blaring:  “Will California shooting revive gun debate?”

And on Monday, MSNBC's Richard Lui asked Bloomberg minion Erika Soto Lamb:  “Does this help your cause?” and “Will this emotion translate” into a greater push for gun control?  Lamb's reply: "Absolutely." 

What an unspeakably vile admission it is for gun control advocates to rejoice over the deaths of children because it “helps [their] cause.” 

But the problem is this:  There are at least 15 Democrats running for the Senate in pro-gun states on the lie that they care something about the Second Amendment.  Some are no-name challengers.  

But at least eleven are currently members of the Senate:  Mark Begich (D-AK), Mark Pryor (D-AR), Mary Landrieu (D-LA), Kay Hagan (D-NC), John Walsh (D-MT), Mark Warner (D-VA), Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), Mark Udall (D-CO), Tom Udall (D-NM), Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Al Franken (D-MN). 

If they are allowed to go into the election without taking an actual position on gun control -- one that makes a difference -- and, if they are elected to the Senate, the Second Amendment will be in grave danger in 2015. 

For this reason, we are asking Senators Ted Cruz and Rand Paul to force a Senate vote on changing the Senate rules to prohibit any gun control.  Harry Reid has already blown up the Senate rules to pack the circuit courts with anti-gun judges. And, Reid has further threatened to weaken the filibuster rules -- a parliamentary tool which gun rights supporters have used to protect the Second Amendment.

Gun owners must encourage the pro-gun leaders in the Senate to demonstrate that they care as much about the Second Amendment as Reid cares about destroying it. 

ACTION:  (1) Write your Senators.  Demand that they support Senate rules changes to prohibit any gun control from being adopted in the Senate. NOTE:  If you live in Texas or Kentucky, the Engage action site will invite you to send a different message to each of your two Senators. I think it’s imperative that pro-gun Senators demonstrate that they care as much about the Second Amendment as Reid cares about destroying it.

Gun Owners of America Boehner Secretly Plotting to Stab  Gun Owners in the Back  In a closed-door meeting of wealthy contributors in Las Vegas, House Speaker John Boehner said he was "hell-bent on getting [anti-gun immigration amnesty] done this year." And earlier this week, the Speaker viciously mocked conservative Republicans for opposing him on this issue. The wily Boehner had led his conservative Republican members to believe the issue was shelved for the year.  Now it appears that Boehner is simply planting a trap for Republicans and gun owners -- springing this Obama-backed proposal when it's too late to primary anti-gun Republican amnesty supporters. Gun Owners of America has argued all along that Second Amendment supporters have "a dog in this fight." In 1986, Ronald Reagan signed an immigration amnesty bill for about 3 million illegals.  It was supposed to be accompanied by new enforcement measures -- which never happened.  Instead, the prospect of citizenship only attracted over ten million new illegals.  And those granted amnesty in 1986 turned California from a "swing state" into an anti-gun nightmare.  A Pew poll from last year indicated that if illegal immigrants were given citizenship, they would vote for liberal, anti-gun candidates by an 8-to-1 margin.  So by the time that a net 8,000,000-plus additional anti-gun voters emerge from Obama's new proposal, it will be far too late to do anything about it.  Handgun bans.  Total gun registration. Confiscation programs.  SWAT teams.  These will be the inevitable consequence of adding 8,000,000 new anti-gun voters to the electorate. Boehner's Republican members understand that anti-gun immigration amnesty could cost Republicans the Senate and House in November -- and would damage their prospects even more in long-term. This is why, up until now, he was pretending to shelve the issue. Boehner thinks he can get away with bushwhacking the Republican members who elected him Speaker. But the good news is that there is a procedure for unseating the Speaker, and we are beginning to work with members in order to invoke it. ACTION:  1. Contact your Representative.
