Marshall, of Anchorage, broke his own record -- he won the title back in 2016 with a pumpkin just slightly smaller, at 1,469 pounds.
His was the largest of six giant gourds to take to the scale in front of a large audience in the Craig Taylor Farm Exhibits barn, amidst the livestock and near the vegetables and other Alaska-Grown entries.
