Friday Morning Chill

Good morning. It's a balmy 17 degrees at our place, but there's less frost than yesterday. For example, when I stuck my head outside, I could still see the interior of my truck. Yesterday that wasn't possible.

The "chill" isn't just the weather. Remember all those promises about how only "the rich" would pay for health care reforms? Here's a list of all the taxes that we will ALL pay:

Remember the scene in "Twister" where a farmhouse tumbles across the road? The sequel took place yesterday:

WASILLA -- Gusty winds in Mat-Su knocked out power and sent one large roof careening onto a pickup Thursday afternoon.

Tony Tarbert, who lives on the Old Glenn Highway south of Smith Road, said wind tore the 70-by-24-foot roof off an addition behind his house and deposited it in his front yard, smashing his 2004 Dodge three-quarter-ton pickup.

You can read the rest, here.

The Dept. of Defense has announced plans to complete 14 missile silos near Fairbanks, previously scheduled to be scaled back. Our senators, one R and one D, are split on whether it's a good thing, as this will require the decommissioning of another field, 100 miles to the south.

You can read about it here; I report, you decide.

I've been told that yesterday's link about the clump of old lures, removed from Cowee Creek near Juneau, didn't work. Here's a picture of one part of the haul:

That's all for now; have a great Friday, and thanks for stopping by.

Windy isn't the word for it, Rev. Paul! We got up this morning to find a tree down, temp at 33 degrees and absolutely no DSL.

The tree managed to miss the woodshed, a pickup, the burn barrel and the septic clean out pipe. Lots of heat will result from Mother Nature's exhaling.

The NOAA weather report claims we may have winds as high as 70-75 mph gusts this afternoon...and we've only just gotten internet back!

Good always comes from the not so good. We have more wood for heat, no ice or even frost as the winds keep the temps higher, the refrigerator is now clean because I didn't have internet access so found something else to do :)

Have a blessed weekend!

Looks like that guy could open a tackle shop with all those lures. Just as some kids make money diving for golf balls, I've heard of some who filled their tackle boxes by walking the banks of some lakes or rivers where they collected the snags others left behind.
