A Winter's Day

Reality has set in: it's 28 27 degrees with north winds at 21 mph. Wind chill in single digits, approaching zero. There's a bit of fog, but the weatherman says we'll have sun and 35 degrees this afternoon.

It reminds me of the last time we had a really rainy October, and the snow was late in getting here ... once it started, it didn't let up. We got double the "average" snowfall, that winter, and had snow on the ground until May 15.

More later, but first I need to dig out a heavier jacket. And make sure the shovels and scrapers are conveniently placed. This could be a long winter.

Brrrrr! It got chilly down in the Puget Sound Region... it was 40 this morning, and a little cooler yesterday... rain, rain, chilly rain! You didn't mention snow yet... just a deep freeze, eh?

Correct. The snow line is at about 1,000 feet now, just above town. After a few nights in the 20s (or colder), any snow will be on the ground until March. Or April. Or maybe May.
