Monday Morning

Mt. Redoubt hiccuped yesterday afternoon. There was a steam plume which reached 15,000 feet (or 5,000 feet above the summit). A subsequent overflight showed some ash-fall on the upper south flank. This incident lasted for less than an hour.

The volcano has quieted down again, and shows no imminent sign of recurrence. The prevailing winds are out of the northeast, too, so any ash cloud would be blown southwest, away from Anchorage. False alarm, folks.

It was -2 at my place this morning, and I almost wished I had worn a long-sleeve shirt under my sport coat. Oh, well, I wasn't outside that long.

It was a beautiful drive to work, this morning. The clear skies outlines the mountains (while allowing the low temps), and there was no frost, ice, or snow. Not bad at all. I need to figure how out/when to photograph it, for inclusion here.

You all have the best day you can - carpe diem (redneck translation: "seize the carp!")

Just wondering... Do you still want me to send that sunshine I have marked on the calendar your way?

I thought you already had! It's been mostly sunny for the last several days, although the conditions in western Alaska (where the sled dog racers are) are horrendous.

I commend you & your calendar for remembering ... thanks!
