Tuesday P.M. Odds and Ends

I think it's safe to say that fall has arrived. The deciduous tree leaves are about 1/3 changed, and they've been falling for the last 24 hours. Of course, the 35 mph winds we had yesterday played a role, too. The winds have slowed to 10 or 12 mph, today.

It only got up to 54 so far today. Mr. AccuHunch says we'll be in the 40s overnight, but more rain is moving in. What a surprise.

One year ago, Governor Sarah Palin signed a bill eliminating our eight-cent-per-gallon gas tax. That act expired at midnight, so gas here is $3.25/gallon now. Needless to say, lines at the local stations were quite long, all day yesterday.

Does anyone besides me have issues with this "compose new post" window twitching like it's palsied? This has been going on for several months now, and it's annoying.

My story about the difficulty of getting ammo here from the lower 48 (see previous post) sparked a number of conversations today. Most comments were variations of, "Good on you for figuring out how to get it here. Now I'll try it, too."

We still can't figure out where to go for vacation, next year. No particular destination is leaping out and saying, "Here I am, pick me!" We'll let the decision go for now, and revisit the issue during the long, dark, cold winter months.

My parents were hoping to come up & see us again this year, but neither of them is physically able to sit in a plane for long hours, now. That may play a role in whatever destination we choose.

Speaking of dark, it's no longer light when I get up at 5:10. We're losing daylight at over 5 minutes per day, now, as the winter solstice approaches. Thankfully, it's still months away.

I tried to listen to Gun Nuts Radio just now, but it's mostly static with some voices heard faintly in the background. While visions of Depression-era folks huddled around the radio dance through my fevered brow, I'll just try again next week.

That's about all for now - have a great evening!

I found some photos this evening, of Moose on the airport grounds in Anchorage the last time I flew in there as a pilot. I'll send one to you.

I hope all is well. I'm really proud of Sam with all her cooking. She's a natural.

That would be great; thank you.

And thanks for the nice words about her cooking. She's a big fan of your skills in the kitchen, and loves to recreate your recipes.
