"The forecast for tonight: dark. Continued mostly dark, with widely scattered light in the morning."
Snow in October in Alaska? Duh. Doesn't take much thinking to produce such a forecast. Just sayin'.

I see Chicago was eliminated from contention for the 2016 Olympics. That didn't take long; I thought the world loved Dear Leader! And after only 8 1/2 months of telling the world how horrible and mean America has been to them.
I wonder if the door hit him in the backside on his way out.

Global-Cooling Dept.: About three weeks ago, the carcasses of "nearly 200" walruses were discovered on an Alaskan beach on the Chukchi Sea (the area in the "V" formed between NW Alaska and NE Siberia). Scientists rushed in to start proclaiming how it had to be a man-made disaster.
Nope. Turns out the 130 (what? not 200?) were part of a herd of about 3500 (and how do they know that??). Necropsies reveal "bruising consistent with being trampled" ... so the herd stampeded into the water.
You can see this one coming, right? "It's because of global warming" because there wasn't enough sea ice. In September.
Really? In the same paper that's talking about how long the autumn weather has lasted?

If-You-Want-Something-Done-Right Dept.: The State of Alaska, apparently having decided that no private companies are moving quickly enough to act on the natural gas shortage in south-central Alaska, has applied for its own permits to build a bullet line from the North Slope. They want to have it operating by 2015, which is a good thing: we will have supply shortages by the winter of 2012 at the latest.
Come to think of it, that's how we got the Trans-Alaska Pipeline for oil, in the first place. Then-governor Wally Hickel met with the oil company executives and said, "If you won't build it, I will."

Y'all have a great Friday. Thanks for stopping by!

Regarding Olympics... For a messiah, he sure hasn't been able to turn any water into wine!
has he succeeded in anything since taking office? I cannot seem to find one thing he has accomplished in the nearly year he's been in office... either this guy is a late starter, or he is the biggest waste of 4 years this country has seen. (for the record, it pleases me to see him continually fall on his face... Failure in Chief!)
