Tuesday Morning Thoughts

Good morning. It's 31 degrees with a light heavy coating of frost; the leaves are mostly down and it's foggy, here & there. It may not be winter, but it's starting to feel like winter.

Darn-the-bad-luck Dept: One of the local natural gas companies seems to have made a billing error, over-charging Fort Richardson (Army base in Anchorage). Since they use some sort of cost-averaging, that means they charged the rest of us a bit less. Over a term of some years, the error added up to $5.7 Million. Now that they've repaid the Dept. of Defense, the utility wants to pass the error on to the rest of us.

The regulatory commission told them "NO", last night; they must live with their mistake, and not expect the customers to bail them out.

What a refreshing change! Government the way it's supposed to be.

You-can't-give-it-away Dept: In a scene reminiscent of the old Homestead Act, a small town in central Alaska tried giving away 26 wooded lots in 2007, to the first 26 people who would put up a $500 deposit. Yesterday, they had to foreclose on 18 of them, as the new owners failed to develop them as promised.

Who'd-have-thunk-it Dept: Fox News is reporting that many of the 150 doctors at the president's photo op yesterday had to be given white coats for the event. Further, it seems many of them had no idea why they were invited - and in fact do not support ObamaKare.

Surprised? You shouldn't be. He's done this before ... remember John Deere?

* * * * *

That's all I have for now. Thanks for stopping by.

Ha! Liked your titles. Re the BO photo-op: figures. I'm thinking I probably wouldn't have shown up for it (if I were a dr.). It was 29degrees here at 7am...didn't check earlier. Looooove the colder weather. Only problem is the deer seem to be much more active around the cabin and my dogs keep taking off after them and causing me much hassel getting them back home. Stupid me thinking they'd actually go straight from the cabin to the car! Happy Tuesday Rev!

I am never surprised at anything the current President does... no matter how low.

As for the foreclosures. They should've expected it. heh.
