Weather Schism

Forecast high for today:
"26 with plentiful sunshine. DENSE FOG ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON AKST TODAY."

How's that again?

Update: At 3:49 p.m., the fog remains in place. We've made it up to 15 degrees - or rather, I should say that the temperature hasn't budged since 8 a.m.

The only discernible change is the thickening frost.

I think "FOG" is different than cloud cover or overcast, as it is surface cloud cover... maybe that is how they define it as a clear day though a fog advisory is in effect. Just supposing, not sure. I just know I've been in a fog bank, and once above or to the side, behold, nothing but plentiful sunshine...

But I guess that would be no different than "sunny, if not for all these clouds"

We know the sun is shining, above the fog - somewhere - but we haven't seen it in awhile. When it is gray all day long, for our 5 hours of daylight, "plentiful sunlight" is a relative term. We'd still love to see the sun, though.
