If there was any question about whether Fairbanksans* dig getting out with their dogs, it was answered emphatically at Creamer’s Field on Saturday. It was definitely a tail-wagging time.
Hundreds of dog owners flocked to Creamer’s Field with their canine companions on a beautiful sunny day to sniff out colored plastic Easter eggs filled with dog treats and raffle tickets that had been scattered along the refuge trails.
There were an estimated 200-300 dogs in attendance and probably twice that many people.
“Wow, this is insane,” event organizer Roxanne Brooks of Holy Dog Pet Boarding Inc. said as she watched the line of dogs and people waiting to get their mandatory “poop bag” and official hunt rules continue to grow after the noon start.
