This and That

■ It's another warm (39º) morning, and the forecast high is 53. That's still several degrees above normal for late April, and even though it's cloudy & grey, we'll take it.

■ The firearms-on-campus protest is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 11:00. It will be interesting to see how much, if any, coverage is provided by the local press.

KENAI -- A trained border collie is going to help chase away gulls, sandhill cranes, geese and other birds that congregate on the runways of Kenai Municipal Airport. They used firearms in the past, and last year had to kill several dozen birds. I'm guessing the lady who suggested using man's best friend has something against guns ... naw. Couldn't be. (Click the link to read the official account.)

■ The lady who was the subject of yesterday's post about a power outage had apparently gone to all her office buddies about her issues. The result was that they all knew who the post was concerning, and had a nice laugh ... behind her back. That wasn't my intent, of course. If I'd wanted to embarrass her, I'd have mentioned her first name or initials, or put her picture in the article. That would be sweet!

Okay, just kidding, but you know what I mean.

■ My friend UpinAK, whose significant other was recently mugged, blogs that they have purchased new handguns and also stopped going out unarmed. Good for them.
