According to an article in today's Daily News, "Bear season 2010 is getting busy with human-bear encounters on the rise."
Of course, with Alaskans being who they are (i.e., armed & free) the bears are losing frequently.
The article goes on to say that in a recent encounter in Eagle River, just up the road from Anchorage, two neighbors shot at a black bear which was ravaging a chicken coop. One man gave the bear "a couple of shots with a .45" and the other guy fired a .25. Together, they killed the 150 lb. intruder.
There have been a number of recent encounters, so please click the link to access the article. The paper seems to have made it impossible to cut and paste.

The poor bears. You know the liberals have to just be going crazy over the senseless massacre of that innocent bear just trying to check on his friends the chickens;-)
