Sunday in the A.M.

Good morning! It's 26 degrees at my house at 8 a.m. There's a bit of frost on the roof of the truck, but none on the windows ... that's a good thing. I see that it's 10 degrees warmer at Stevens Int'l, but the airport is surrounded on two sides by Cook Inlet. We're a mile from the waterfront, and nearer the mountains, so that explains the difference.

Here's a webcam shot from mid-town, taken just a couple of minutes ago. Click once to enlarge, and click again on the larger image to enlarge again. Who says you can't get what you want?

The local news is filled with reports pertaining to the local arts scene (some musicians have released some CDs). The paper is reporting - again - that Bill Walker (gubernatorial candidate who lost to Sean Parnell, the incumbent, for the R nod) will announce this week his upcoming write-in campaign. Apparently it's open season for fringe politicians of the "sore loser" variety to launch consecutive losing campaigns. **sighs**

The paper also reports that hundreds were still without power (as of last night) from Friday's windstorm. It really was a doozy.

We're still debating what to do with ourselves today. The sun is scheduled to reappear ... or so AccuHunch guesses ... and we're thinking a walk will feel good. Maybe a drive north to Knob Lake & Sheep Mountain.

Or not.

We had no power for 32 hours due to trees on the power lines. The one broken line was repaired at the 24 hour mark, but power wasn't restored for another 7 hours (or so). Thank goodness for the trusty Alaskan standby, the generator. We dusted it off, added oil and gas and fired it up in order to refill the water tank and bring the freezers and refrigerator back to normal temps.

I was in the shower when the darn power went off, had just added shampoo....... hair had minimal rinsing so you know a shower was definitely on the schedule!

All worked out well, and the old perc coffee pot worked as well now as it did 15 years ago. Nothing smells as good as perking coffee!

Weather says possible snow (or rain) Tuesday. hmmm! Could happen, or not.
