describes the day we're having. It's currently 12 degrees at my house, with north winds at 15 mph, gusting to 32. You can do the math regarding the windchill. It appears a coat is in order this morning, as the forecast calls for a high of 18 (or 21, depending on which version of the 'cast you check) today.
Can-You-Say-Hubris? Dept: Regarding the Miller v. Murkowski count, she's currently ahead by more than 1,700 votes ... but as noted yesterday, the absentee & military ballots have yet to be tallied; the deadline for those to arrive is tomorrow. There should be some sort of initial resolution by week's end, but that presupposes no lawsuits. You just know there will be more than one. However, the Anchorage Daily Salmon-Wrapper-and-Occasionally-News reports that "The Murkowski campaign is all but claiming victory...".
More-Climate-Shock-Than-Jet-Lag Dept: It took me until mid-day to readjust to being back at home, yesterday. My head was still in Hawaii until that point. This morning's temps are Alaska's way of saying it's back-to-reality time.
There's not much else to report; a quick read of this morning's local headlines reveal that little "news" has occurred since we left on vacation on the 6th. That's kind of sad, perhaps, but that's okay. Getting reacquainted with the cold & dark is adjustment enough.
Thanks for stopping by.

Aaah, I see the top banner has been returned to the Alaska theme. Looks pretty. Not as warm as the last couple, but pretty nonetheless.
That was last December's frost. The banner now was taken about 10 minutes ago.
Last week we actually got snow flurries. I get worried when it gets this late in the year and there is still no snow. That generally means snow through March and cold through August.
Rev. Paul,
Times like this, I am glad to live here in the South. Highs today should be in the 70s. Just a jacket needed to keep the chill off in the early mornings.
Take care, and welcome back.
Best wishes,
PolyKahr
