The long summer days in Alaska are always a source of fascination for visitors and blog-readers, alike. Since the solstice on the 21st is during the work week, I took pictures last night for your viewing pleasure

And here's a shot a midnight, when the sun is behind the trees to the west, but still above the horizon:

I was in Adak in `83 and I guess we were too far south for that, because ti was (almost) dark between 11PM and around 1AM.
I had a series of pics I took each hour during one night watch and you couldn't even see the sun move in those six pictures.
