Rainy Days & Wednesday

It's been dry in most of Alaska for some time, but it finally began to rain yesterday, and all night ... and still drizzling this morning. The rains overnight were fairly heavy, and it was loud enough to wake me a couple of times. It's been awhile since that happened. But it's a good thing, and the central interior has been cooler & rainy as well, helping to put down the multiple wildfires that have been burning for several weeks.

Younger Daughter (age 15) is attending a "culinary boot camp" at UAA this week, specifically the baking course. Most of what they're doing is familiar to her, as she's been cooking since the age of six. Still, they're exposing her to some new recipes, and a few new things.

On Monday, she brought home an egg and bacon quiche (bacon!). Yesterday, it was pizza made from scratch - her first time to make her own dough. Today they're making pasta. I don't remember tomorrow's concoction, but Friday's will be BBQ and potato salad. She barbequed on the grill at home last weekend, and also made potato salad herself on Sunday, so it will only be her second time for that.

Yes, there will be pictures.

You'd mentioned that a few weeks back, and I thought of it last night as I got back info food DB mode ( roasting some chickens, then making stock).

Hope she's enjoying it!

Well, there goes your diet! Better ramp up the walking before it's too late.
