What's On Your Book Shelf?

After reading Brigid's and North's accounts of their libraries, I decided one more won't hurt.

We have bookshelves full, oldest daughter has a half of a walk-in closet full, boxes of books in the garage, and I have 400 - 500 titles in my Kindle account.

I tend toward sci fi, but am an eclectic reader, and often go in streaks. I have Asimov, Heinlein, Pournelle, the complete works of Arthur C. Clarke (he's a bit too pessimistic for me, but there it is), several out-of-print books on WWII history (mostly the airwar) including a wonderfully large volume on the B-17 by Edward Jablonski, and two more equally large volumes called "Airwar" by the same fellow.

When we moved to Alaska, all we had was our two vehicles, our clothes, my toolbox, and a couple of PCs. There was no room for books (except for photo albums, of course). We've been rebuilding our library for the last eight years, but space is a definite problem. In fact, that's why I got a Kindle in the first place: no more shelf space!

There are lots more titles, and lots more authors, but let's just say there's a smattering of lots of different topics ... old books, new books, classics, history, whatever.

I like to read, and it's a rare day when I don't have a book at hand ... or in my hand.

North, and Rev. Paul - you both have some great books. I only photographed a few shelves. I have a couple of walls worth.

I have about 11,000 books in my library, 90% SF and Fantasy. Love all the authors you mentioned. Loaded up my Nook at Christmas with about 400 more titles, mostly from Baen books. I love it for traveling - it saves me a lot of space in my luggage.

Rev. Paul,

I too have a large collection, though it has been pared down recently as we adjust to living with less space. Besides engineering topics, I have quite a few on guns, politics, history, art, religion. No pictures though, sorry.

Best wishes,
PolyKahr

Over the years of collecting first editions I had to learn carpentry. I had a habit of stacking books on the floor. Wife said, "Boy, (yes she did, called me boy) build bookcases." They now cover the walls of my home office and family room.
