Y'all made me promise not to stop, so here's what I've been up to since last week.
Yesterday, a friend gifted us with a small car, for my daughters' use, on the condition of "if you can get it running, you can have it." My mechanic friend came along to see what's up, and decided it only needs a few things (water pump, battery, belts/hoses, etc).
Today I've been purchasing snow tires, air filter, wipers, wheel covers and assorted odds & ends. Once it's running, I'll get it licensed & then The Girls will no longer need Mom and Dad for transport.
This is a good thing. So Friend Who Shall Remain Nameless Here, thank you. You've made a couple o' daughters very happy campers!

Hey, if (s)he's in the habit of giving away cars, I'd like to be on the list. Only if it's newer than my 1993 Nissan, though. ;-)
Good for all of you, and good to see you! - gfa
Be sure to keep your mechanic friend on speed dial for a couple of months once that vehicle is rolling. You may need to "tweek" it a bit as it gets the bugs worked out.
At least you and your wife will be able to retire the taxi license. The tow license? We shall see.
Concur with Joated! And kudos to the friends who though enough of y'all to do that!
Do they have AAA up there? Might consider it as a gift for the main driver.... and for yourself.
Fixing up older cars like that is a battle. Satisfying when you win, but quite a bit of work till then.
hey... sometimes good things do happen to good people... how 'bout that?
