Is the Reciprocity Bill Going to be Alaska-Friendly?
Incredibly, Mark Begich, wants to strip "Alaska Carry" holders of reciprocity rights

We are going to tell you something you're going to find hard to believe.
Your squishy Democratic Senator, Mark Begich, is the chief advocate, in Senate negotiations, for stripping most Alaskans of the right to carry firearms nationally.
Let us repeat that.

Your squishy Democratic Senator, Mark Begich, is the chief advocate, in Senate negotiations, for stripping most Alaskans of the right to carry firearms nationally.

Let's review what's happened in recent years:

1. Alaska issued OPTIONAL conceal carry permits, but recognized the God-given right of Alaskans to carry without the government's permission. This system is called "Alaska carry" or "constitutional carry."

2. You worked hard to get your laws changed to affirm that Americans shouldn't have to get the permission of government, through a license, to exercise their constitutional Second Amendment rights to carry a firearm.

3. Alaska was a trend-setter, and, in addition to three other current "Alaska carry" states [Arizona, Wyoming, most of Montana], now states like New Hampshire, Georgia, Kentucky, and many others are seriously considering laws like yours.

But if Congress grants a national concealed carry right to people from virtually every state in the country, but fails to acknowledge the same right for Alaska non-permit holders, your right to carry will be less far-reaching than it should be.

No one -– absolutely no one –- believes that the crime problem in New York, Chicago, or Washington springs from dangerous Alaskan non-permit holders sneaking into New York City in order to disrupt the tranquility of New York's "gentle folk." The argument is foolish.

So why penalize law-abiding Alaskans because you have adopted some of the best gun laws in the country?

Tragically, Mark Begich is in negotiations with other senators and has insisted that non-permit Alaskans be stripped of the right to carry nationally -– AS A CONDITION OF HIS SUPPORT.

You don't believe us? Ask him.

It's like federal highway funds, where the government coerces states to adopt repressive laws by threatening to take away monies they have a right to receive.
In this case, Begich would strip you of your God-given right to carry a gun in anyplace other than Alaska unless you capitulated to government coercion and begged for the government's permission by obtaining a permit.

But the good news is this: Mark Begich is the ONLY obstacle to allowing all Alaskans the right to carry nationally. If Senator Begich stops trying to sabotage gun owners in his own state, then "Alaska carry" will be protected in the Senate bill.

If, on the other hand, Begich continues to sell Alaska down the river, Alaska non-permit holders will be shut out of national reciprocity under the Senate bill.

ACTION:

1. Contact Senator Begich. Demand that the reciprocity bill be Alaska-friendly. Demand that Alaska NON-PERMIT-HOLDERS be able to benefit from the bill's reciprocity provisions.

2. Distribute this email far and wide to your pro-gun family and friends and encourage them to contact Senator Begich as well.
ANSWERING OBJECTIONS: You can expect Begich to squirm around like a worm on a fishing hook.

He will say: "The House passed an even worse version, and that's why we need to water-down the Senate bill." It's true that what the House passed was worse, but the House will accept Alaska-friendly language from the Senate in a fraction of a second.

Begich will say: "Fellow Democrats like Chuck Schumer will not accept concealed carry reciprocity unless Alaskans are 'checked out' by the government before they are allowed to carry -- like they are in that enclave of safety, New York City." But, guess what? We already have 62 to 64 votes in favor of an Alaska-friendly bill -- more than enough to break a filibuster.

Please let us know any other ridiculous arguments Begich tries to make for abandoning his state, and we will provide answers for you.

This garbage is why so many are against Congress passing this to being with. They will only screw things up.

By passing this bill they have in effect "given" you a "right". We all know that any right given to you by the Government can be taken away.
